All: This is past due....... I want to give my sincere appreciation and pay my respects to John and Alan for their assistance on the Radio Shack account. This was a huge win for Avocent - not only in revenue but by beating two competitors. There is no way I could have closed the deal without them. This was by far the most difficult account (people) I've ever worked with. Alan, you amazed me in that conference room with your professionalism and technical knowledge when Keith was trying to face off with you. He tested you. Your confidence in Avocent and our products and not backing down to them in that room earned their respect that day! I truly believe from that meeting they knew who their chosen vendor was.... John, I was so proud how you handled Keith when you managed to get the equipment running smooth again without blinking an eye. Well......maybe at me showing how bad you wanted to punch the guy. :-) When we left there he knew he was wrong... You two deserve so much credit on this account and I want all of you to know how happy I am to have them on our team!! Many thanks again, -K

David, I wanted to take a moment to send a note concerning the outstanding efforts displayed by Alan Frank. Normally I would send this to his boss, but since I don't know who that would be I thought you would be the best alternative. I would appreciate it if you would forward this to the proper individuals within Avocent. Alan Frank has provided support to us for our internal customer and the issues we had with the Avocent KVM over IP solution. Alan demonstrated outstanding customer service skills and an interest in making sure we were happy with the Avocent equipment. After I explained the issues in my first conversation with Alan he immediately volunteered to make an on-site call. Alan worked around my schedule and showed maximum flexibility in arranging our on-site service calls. Alan spent some time explaining the proper setups and configurations to allow the Avocent solution to work at its maximum ability. Alan delivered setup files and training that has allowed me to reverse the perception of the Avocent solution within our customer's workforce. When I continued to have issues Alan made sure that a replacement unit was shipped out to us right away, and made another on- site visit to verify that everything was working. Alan took the AR's to solve the issues with our USB based systems as well. At this point in time we have a 100% fully effective solution, and without Alan's diligence and customer service attitude we would not have been able to do this. My customer is now extremely happy with the Avocent solution, and we are currently planning on purchasing more Avocent devices. The Avocent product will allow us to solve many of our networking issues, and proceed with our lab improvement project. All of these items would not have happened without Alan's dedication and critical skill training that he provided for us. Alan is a great asset for Avocent, and I wanted to make sure that you know how helpful he was. Brad, Alan Frank was a great help with Tom at the City of Amarillo. Tom took delivery of DSR equipment and ran into installation problems. Alan walked Tom through the installation, answered questions and got them up and working all over the phone. Tom was pleased with the support and will be ordering more equipment later this week. My thanks to Alan for his support to DirectNET and making Tom feel confident about his Avocent solution. It helps us sell Avocent to our (mutual) customers. John

Alan I have now seen many product demonstrations, and the one that you did yesterday afternoon was the best that I have ever seen! In my opinion, you had the folks from Bank One "eating out of your hand", wanting more. In addition, I'm sure that because of your fine presentation they have asked us to return today to do a second one. While I am still struggling to be able to represent Avocent to Bank One, I don't think there is any question at this point that Bank One will or will not be purchasing a solution for their labs. Ed, I want to recognize the great job that Alan Frank did on Friday during a conference call with David Calaf at Vassar College. David is technically astute, holds strong opinions about MicroSoft products and is not shy about challenging vendors. I knew that I had one good chance to get David to consider Avocent’s DS/CCM/SP lines as a solution for the college’s ~ 100 servers. I called Alan and asked if he would be willing & able to get on the Friday conference call. Alan said yes and then, on Friday, met every one of David’s questions with technical and straight-forward answers. We ended the call with David interested in hearing more about the DSV3; open to getting an eval system; and, getting a preliminary quote. All, I wanted to recognize and thank everyone’s effort, especially those of Madhav Konkimalla (Cognizant), Russell Taylor, Aung Soe and Alan Frank (Avocent), who worked over the Thanksgiving Weekend along hard with the Datacenter Chelsea, Noah, Sean, Dara, Edwin to complete the DS View Migration. This migration involved updating the software on 76 devices spanning across 4 different locations. The fact that it had to be done over the holiday weekend shows how critical this infrastructure is to IndyMac and support engineers. Thank you for all your teamwork! Alan, I wanted to let you know that I just received an order from Pulte Homes, previously Del Webb, for 30 DSR 2161's. It was a tough sale because of the merger of the Pulte and Del Webb data centers. There was a faction of people who wanted to do business with Dell because of their existing relationship and Dell's technical support . Don Wessel the network manager went to bat for ComNet citing the strong technical support he had previously received from ComNet and Avocent. He gave a detailed account of how you helped them with there first DS1800 installation and how you got his 4XP's working with the DS1800. He mentioned that you were always available when he needed you and he convinced the team that technical support was a non-issue and his relationship with ComNet and Avocent was solid. I believe that your commitment to support Del Webb during the initial installation was instrumental in us getting the order. I know that it often goes unsaid, but I want to acknowledge you for your commitment to customer support. I'm afraid that there are some that let the competitors frame the landscape and this was a classic example that you just drove a stake through the heart of. It's all about attitude, Frank.
