Bridging Innovation:
My Journey Through Lithium Energy Storage and Command & Control Systems (2013-2020)
In 2013, I was invited into a pioneering collaboration with a team developing lithium-powered
utility vehicles, golf carts, and electric motorized camera dollies for the film industry—including
a landmark project celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the Meyers Manx, reimagined as
electric for Bruce Meyers himself. This wasn’t just about vehicles—it was about redefining how
energy could be stored, managed, and deployed across industries.
At the heart of these innovations was a critical truth: lithium-based batteries are not passive
components. They require intelligent computer interaction to manage cell balancing, charging
cycles, and thermal regulation. This necessity aligned perfectly with my expertise in Out-of-
Band Access and remote management—because anything computer-based demands secure,
reliable control infrastructure. I recognized early on that the same principles I’d long applied to
data centers were now essential to the future of mobile energy systems.
Over the years, I became the go-to demonstration expert
for these prototypes, conducting hands-on showcases
across the United States. I hauled these vehicles myself,
presenting their capabilities to prospective clients,
investors, and industry leaders—capturing countless
videos and moments that documented the excitement
and potential of lithium mobility. These events were more
than technical demos; they were immersive experiences
that revealed how high-performance lithium systems
could revolutionize not just transportation, but also
broadcast, film, and enterprise power solutions.
Among the most memorable of these showcases was a road trip I called "22 Days of Smiles,"
where I shuttled the electric lithium-powered Meyers Manx from its 50-year celebration in Long
Beach in 2014 to Disney's Car Masters event in Orlando, FL. Disney requested the vehicle be
featured prominently on the main road, and their newest movie at the time credited Bruce Meyers
MANX known as Old Red as the inspiration for a character in Cars 2—an homage to the legacy of
the original Meyers Manx.
I’ve captured nearly 40 videos of customers driving these prototype vehicles, in addition to the 22
Days of Smiles road trip and each one is a testament to the joy, innovation, and transformative
potential of lithium mobility. These videos will be featured to highlight the real-world impact and
excitement surrounding these technologies.
This chapter of my career has been a privilege. It allowed me to bridge legacy systems with emerging technologies, and to
demonstrate—in both literal and strategic terms—how energy, control, and communication can be unified under a single, intelligent
framework. It’s a story of innovation, but also of continuity: the same principles of reliability, clarity, and control that define
OOBAXS have guided me through this transformative journey.
What made this journey extraordinary was the convergence of disciplines. My deep knowledge of command and control systems, IT
infrastructure, and remote access protocols became directly applicable to the challenges of lithium battery integration. I also gained
firsthand experience with alternative DC power generation—solar, wind, and hybrid systems—which expanded my understanding of
distributed energy and its role in resilient infrastructure.
Throughout this period, I provided IT services to several lithium-focused startups, allowing me to refine my technical insight while
contributing to real-world deployments. These engagements reinforced my belief that lithium energy storage isn’t just a niche
innovation—it’s a foundational shift that touches everything from entertainment to enterprise.
